After months of anticipation the day has come for this collaboration to come to life. I hit a very lovely Target store early this afternoon to scope things out in person. I asked a sales associate where the collection would be and was surprisingly directed to a crammed display in the back of the store. The location on this setup seemed odd, however it appears the same goes in many if not all stores. As a consumer I expected more.
Now, moving on to the actual pieces. My number one biggest let down is the Oscar de la Renta tote. It’s nothing like I thought it would be. When I saw it on display I thought someone was playing a joke. I observed another shopper come to the same sad realization. Our hopes for a beautiful Oscar piece had been crushed. My other disappointments were the Judith Leiber compact mirror and the Marc Jacobs pouch. The compact is of miniscule size and the pouch is nice in theory, but not for the price.
Now on to the good. The Alice + Olivia bike is cool if that’s your thing and the luggage is small but unique looking. The Thom Browne women’s blazer, Brian Atwood Gloves, and Derek Lam slippers are my personal favorites.
I would say the best thing about this collection goes to the little girls. The dresses done by Marchesa and Jason Wu are beautiful. If you have a little fashionista on your shopping list these pieces are for them. My absolute favorite, hands down, is the Marchesa beaded dress.
