I created this set during the summer, but it was just too damn hot to talk about picnicking. Now is the perfect time to take a day trip and enjoy some of the beautiful Arizona scenery.
Yes, we are slammed by sweltering temperatures several months of the year, but when the thermometer drops we are lucky enough to utilize a majority of our clothing and continue making it work even though the season has changed. I don’t know about you, but I’m not going to be putting on my chunky knit sweaters or trench coats anytime soon. Have you seen the 10 day forecast?
In this set I was inspired by tribal print and geometric designs. Although many have turned their cheeks on the gladiator sandal I continue to embrace them. I would rock every piece of this look right now as we enjoy numbers in the 80’s. So style your outfit, stuff your basket, and go enjoy this perfect Arizona weather before it’s too late.
On Friday I was able to attend an awesome blogger event hosted by Clothes Minded AZ. I found out about the festivities last minute and boy am I glad I was able to make it. The store kicked off its grand opening earlier this year and showcases an array of clothing and accessories to include items from local designers.
Store Introduction by Kim of Clothes Minded AZ, Photo by AZ Style Girl
Kim, owner of Clothes Minded AZ, opened the event with a sweet introduction about her store. She was followed by Ashley of The Shine Project who talked about blogging and her line Threads. Christian from Phenomz and Maggie from Angie both followed with product reviews.
After some refreshments and mingling an impromptu styling challenge was proposed to the bloggers with Phoenix Fashion Week models on hand to assist. I styled my first look on the lovely Ariah. The printed skirt caught my eye, and I added a sleeveless lace tank for texture, and a long sleeved chambray shirt knotted at her waist for layering. I accessorized her look with a statement necklace, beaded earrings, wrap around bracelet, love necklace (I modified it into a bracelet), and a menswear inspired watch. You can shop all pieces at Clothes Minded AZ with the exception of shoes (models), and Michael Kors watch (stylists own).
My second look was a team effort. The beautiful Ashley with help from Ariah spotted the white button-detail shorts on a rack and paired them with the black bandeau. This was a perfect base to build upon. A gold jacket, statement rings, a swirled smooth stone necklace, and a Füchsin sturgis black studded garter purse was added to complete her glam-tough girl look. You can shop all pieces at Clothes Minded AZ with the exception of shoes (models). All orders for Angie products (gold jacket) can be special ordered by Kim.
Here’s the fun part! You can vote on Ariah and Ashley’s looks for the blogger styling challenge by going to Clothes Minded AZ’s Facebook page. Just click on your favorite look and like it to vote. Voting ends August 28th at midnight. Please also support the girls in their Phoenix Fashion Week No7 Model of the Year Contest.
